If you are looking at Premier Pro, you've probably already had multiple frustrating failures with other Products like Pinnacle and Ulead. You won't have those failures with Adobe. It has a lot of complex tools but once you get the basics, it's a breeze. I would recommend buying the "Classroom in a Book" if you need some tutorials. You don't get any technical support unless you pay extra (I did and I've made them earn it). I bought the suite and felt it was well worth it, but if you just want to edit your video and burn a disk, you might not need that much firepower (or want to spend that kind of money). After Effects is an amazingly complex bit of software but does some fantastic stuff. I definitely needed the tutorials for it. Encore allows you to set up menus - beware! This part is video-card-memory-intensive (so is After Effects for that matter). Make sure your system can handle it.
